Do you want to know how to make a zip pouch, with every step clearly outlined?  If so, this is perfect for you.

When I wrote this tutorial, I was heavily inspired by Noodlehead’s open wide zippered pouch.  I’ve made quite a few of these, making many tweaks along the way, including: change the zipper tail length, add interfacing to the zipper pull tab, changing the box corners, and just tweaking some of the instruction wording that makes better sense to me.  I also wanted a pattern that I can view offline, since I don’t always have internet access while I’m sewing.  This tutorial is a compilation of those tweaks.

I love this little zip pouch because it is SO functional, it’s easy to make, and it’s a perfect use of fabric scraps since it requires so little material.

When I make these, I like to use dark fabric for the exterior bottom pieces, a light-colored fabric for the interior (to make contents easier to see), and a colorful print for the main exterior.

Also, I’ve never had to use my sewing machine’s zipper foot to make these.  Your regular presser foot will give a great result!

So get the free  Zip Pouch PDF and have fun sewing!

The PDF is a 12-page document with photos and simple instructions.  Hope you enjoy it!
