Watercolor Patchwork Zip Pouch

15 September

I just made a zip pouch for my Sewing Summit 2013 Secret Swap partner.  Guess what her name begins with.

The front of the pouch is watercolor patchwork.  To learn this technique, make sure to get a copy of the special Gifts 2013 issue of Stitch Craft Create magazine, to be released late-September 2013.  I teach you all about it!

The zip pouch pattern is the The Essential Wristlet by Dog Under My Desk.  The pattern RAWKS.  I bought it for the crisp zipper corner on this thing.  And I was not disappointed.

The exterior fabric is Floral Soleil in Stone from the Chateau Rouge collection by French General for Moda Fabrics.  This fabric is perfect for watercolor patchwork – a large-scale motif with lots of background.  The lining fabric is sew appropriate for a fellow stitcher: Words in Gray from the Polka Dot Stitches collection by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs.

I can’t wait to give this to my secret partner ‘J” at the Sewing Summit!  To see all the other handmade gifts that will be exchanged, check out the Sewing Summit 2013 Secret Swap on Flickr.

Are you going to the Sewing Summit in Salt Lake City this year?  If so, I’d love to meet you!  I’m the short girl with curly hair that’s not much of a talker 🙂
