An addicting pattern, this one from Anna Graham. I couldn’t help but make three of these Open Wide Zippered Pouches, one in each size, found on Anna’s blog Noodlehead.
The colorful fabrics are by Jennifer Paganelli: Carrie from her Girl’s World Vibe collection and Rosetta from her Honey Child collection. For the contrast banding, I repurposed a never-worn dark grey cotton shirt that was too big for my husband.
Fabric and tech. Man, this is fun.
Instead of assemby-lining from the get-go, I thought I’d make a complete one, to be sure of the directions. And sure enough I tweaked a couple things: I reduced the box-corner width by a full inch on each of the three sizes, and I added a little scrap of interfacing to strengthen the zipper pull a little.
Zippers can be intimidating, but with Anna’s directions I kicked some zipper arse.
So what am I going to do with these pretty little things? I haven’t decided yet. They’ll definitely be traveling with me to the 2012 Sewing Summit. Check out Travel Handmade – their fun series focusing on bags, bags, and more bags. Whether you’re traveling a couple miles or hundreds of miles, it’s fun to have even just one pretty handmade bag to travel with.
I’ll definitely enter one of these into the Zipper Pouch Swap. Make a pouch, get a pouch. Fun!
