Platform Planner Profit Loss

Knowing the financial position of your platform is absolutely necessary.  Knowing your numbers will help guide smart decision-making for your platform.

With all the available accounting software packages, it can be overwhelming to decide which one you should use.  And if you don’t have complex transactions, you might want a very straightforward template for reporting your revenue and expenses each month.

This worksheet was designed with the blogger in mind.  It is not at all meant as tax advice; for that, please seek a tax professional.  I simply designed it for myself to track my platform profitability.  So use it if you’d like.

This step of the Platform Planner series will help you track your profit and loss.

  1. Print this worksheet: Profit & Loss
  2. Cut out the blank margins and glue to pages 24 and 25 of your comp book.
  3. Write in your numbers each month.

Since our goal was to keep data-tracking simple, this worksheet is designed to be completed by hand, versus maintaining a spreadsheet on the computer.  Like I said in the Getting Started post:

Did you know that you may find a more meaningful connection to your content when you write by hand?  You will more likely remember something you’ve handwritten, versus something you’ve typed.  Physically forming letters with your fingers seems to make an “imprint” upon the brain.  Which is completely appropriate when planning, isn’t it?
