A Ruffle Hem Skirt for Chloe

06 June

I’m in full-force summer sewing mode.  I can’t stop making skirts for my girl.  This one is my own design.  I just love a sweet subtle ruffle as a hem.  And they’re so easy to make. UPDATE: the Ruffle Hem Skirt is now available as a free PDF sewing tutorial: Ruffle Hem Skirt PDF

I used some of that Tutti Fruitti fabric from Jo-Ann Fabrics.  I found about a 1/3 yard of it in the remnants bin a very long time ago.  The tiny hearts and butterflies are just so sweet.  I’d been holding onto it for who-knows-what, and this skirt seemed just the perfect project.  This stuff is so airy and easy to sew.  It’s a perfect drape for a little girl’s skirt and no ironing is necessary.  Now that I’ve used it, I’ll be seeking it in yardage, thankyouverymuch.

And, like the circle skirt, I added some sewn-in leggings.  Built-in modesty!
