Now that I’ve shared how to make a day planner from a composition book, it’s time to make a cover for it! There are lots of online tutorials out there to choose from. But I want some special features, so I designed my own. An elasticized penholder, ribbon bookmarks, and internal pocket panels make this project great.
Here are the fabric pieces I chose for my cover, mostly Amy Butler’s Midwest Modern Collection.
Sewing the pocket panels to the inside pocket flaps, getting the elastic penholders assembled….
And here’s the completed inside cover. For one of the ribbon strands, I sewed the selvage strips together. Sew appropriate.
And yep, my comp book day planner fits in there nicely. Perfect. Making it was the easy and fun. Now the hard part – writing the pattern. My husband actually wants me to make him one!
